Look the ref yesterday let a few tackles go that should have been booking and unfortunately we've ended up with a couple of injuries.
He'll learn from it and hopefully the Referee's Assessor will point out where he went wrong and next time he'll get it right.
Being a PL referee is a fucking hard job, the game is so quick and you have players trying to con the referee all the time.
He's used to the Championship where the challenges that are punished in the PL go without a booking, it's a more physical league.
We can moan all we like BUT you have to have new referee's and they will take time to settle in and adjust to the step up in class.
The real villains of the piece is not the referee, it's Martinez and his bunch of kickers. Can't stand the fucking bloke, at Wigan I always had him down as a fucking cheat and nothing has changed.
Hopefully it wont be long before he goes the same way as those Wigan cunts.

They can add time on for a penalty but that's it, otherwise time is time. If he was savvy he'd have blown for full time when the foul was committed to save him the aggro

Correct, you're impression is wrong.
In fairness though, A lot of referees don't have the cojones to administer the law correctly, so when one does he gets slagged off.

I used to quite like Martinez as a bloke, if not as a manager.
But if he keeps putting out Revie-like cheating teams, I'm going to hate him, like I hate Revie (right tense, my hate goes beyond the grave).

There has been a thing more noticeable over the last few years where referees usually let a phase of play play out before blowing the whistle rather than do a Clive Thomas and blow the whistle when the ball is in mid air on its way to the net.
Not sure Carroll was getting to the ball first but that was the first time I have seen a whistle like that that stood out since that Fat Ref blew just as Carlton Cole turned to score at Wigan because he couldn't be bothered getting out of the centre circle.
Blowing full time just as we were waiting to take a free kick that would have gone into the area........ I cant recall ever seeing that.

To be honest, I didn't really make much of the half time one, you see it sometimes, and although unusual, nothing out of the ordinary. The odd bit was how sudden it was, it was like he couldn't get the whistle out of his pocket fast enough when the ball was played through.
Anyway, then comes to full time, and you would expect that, if he was ready for full time, he would've just blown up with the foul. He didn't, he gave the foul, our players all started going forward. We were lining up the free kick, and again, the whistle came out faster than shit through a goose. Bilic went mental, it was farcial.
Obviously, I don't think for a minute he was cheating. He was just massively incompetent, and seemed nervous and nowhere near up to it. Going back to the foul, again, he didn't even stop to think about what had been going on, and just how bad the foul was, the yellow card was out as if he was in a wild west gun showdown.

Was Carroll really through on goal when the Ref blew for half time? On Sky it looked like there was another defender covering. Must say though I rarely see a Referee blow up at the end of each half like the fella did yesterday. They usually blow at the end of a move or from a goal kick. Certainly most Referees would have blown in the second half after the free kick had been taken and either Everton cleared it or we had an attempt on goal.
Referees have generally been crap for years though but you used to get at least one or two good ones but there are some really awful ones these days.

He averaged 5 yellows a match before yesterday.... I think he has been told to wind it in but took it to the extreme.

MOTD completely edited out ALL the Everton thuggery & glossed over the diabolical assault on Payet (but that's the usual biased BBC for you)
The assault on Payet was considerably worse & premeditated compared to Collins red mist bad tackle last week
I also thought the tackle (by Cone I think) on Moses deserved a red
The tackle on Valencia which caused the ankle injury was fair, but about the only one the referee got right

The ref was all over the place yesterday. He went from one extreme to the other - from trying to let play flow & being lenient on heavy & dangerous challenges to booking Zarate for a little nudge in the back. The way he ended both halves is something I can't remember ever seeing in the past. He comes from Lancashire so it's not inconceivable he has a soft spot for Everton or actually supports them.

Not sure where the ref was from but he has done 3 Premier League games this season and one right at the beginning of last season.
He has therefore been thought worthy of 4 games in 50 sets of fixtures at this level.

Believe me, they came to do a job on Payet. It was so fucking obvious to anyone there, and it really should be obvious to anyone when a tackle like that goes into the clear class act on the pitch. He had mugged a couple of them off, then he gets a knee high scissor tackle.
And believe me, I'm normally the last person to complain about ref, but it was fucking disgraceful.
